The COVID pandemic created a turmoil in the Construction sector. This sent tremors across other sectors where the industry contributes to a large extent towards sectors like steel, cement, power, petroleum, aluminum, IT and ports, besides badly bruising the Indian economy. Infrastructure remains a top priority for addressing developmental gaps as it is considered omnipotent with potentials of lifting economies out of financial turmoil.
The statistics changes but the interdependence of the industries does not change.
The construction industry will play a catalytic role in the recovery of the Indian economy in the post-lockdown world.
So how do we make a resurgence?
What do we need now – construction companies need to upgrade their project management expertise, embrace digital tools and technologies, keep a long-term perspective, secure the health and safety of labour on site, manage supply shortages wisely, and management of contracts for timely completion creating a win-win situation for all stakeholders for an enabling ecosystem.
