As we prepare to put behind the tough times and get excited about the good times ahead, it will be useful to count the learnings that the tough times invariably provide.

It is said that high inventory levels result in hiding inefficiencies in the process of inventory management. Similarly, good times help us bag orders despite high rates or not-so-good deliveries. In short, while the good times make us feel good, they often make us complacent. The tough times do exactly the opposite. On one hand, they make us anxious and apprehensive about the future, on the other hand they force us to improve. It makes us learn the hard way!

So, let us not fritter away the learnings that came to us the hard way. Let us continue and reinforce all those strategies, attitudes, and actions that helped us survive and emerge stronger.

I am reminded of a famous couplet of Kabir “ Dukh me sumiran sab kare, sukh me kare na koi, Jo sukh me sumiran kare, to dukh kahe hoi”. To apply this in the context of this message, everyone learns from tough times, but those who learn in good times will not have to face tough times!
